Deaf Community Services of San Diego, Inc - Volunteer Position Description

Title/Position: The Pamela Espalin Memorial Food Bank Volunteer

Goal of Position: Be available to pick up and shop for food items at Feeding America San Diego. Assemble food bags for clients as they come in for supplemental food supplies.

Tasks/responsibilities:

1. Assemble food bags for distribution.
2. Organize and stock food pantry for ease of distribution and by date of purchase.
3. Assist staff with unloading of bulk food products.

Qualifications:

1. Be compassionate, friendly, caring, and patient with those that are receiving DCS services
2. Awareness of Deaf Culture and ability to use American Sign Language.

Requirements:

1. Complete a volunteer application
2. Complete confidentiality and policy agreement forms
3. Complete Feeding America San Diego Food Bank training
4. Must be willing to commit to consistent hours and days for distribution.

Time frame: Length of Commitment: An agreed upon time with a minimum of 6 months.

Estimated total hours: 4.5 hours a week

Days/Hours Needed:
Tuesdays: 1:45 PM – 4:00 PM
Fridays: 1:45 PM – 4:00 PM
