SALARY: $48,000-$51,000

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Employment Services (AJCC) is accountable to the Deputy Director and is responsible for the operation and oversight of the Employment Services Department. This includes but is not limited to the development of employment opportunities and client employment advisement /coaching including job placement, training development, job fair attendance, budget management, and quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees program services including job development and employment advising
  • Supervises and evaluates department staff in both North and South AJCC offices
  • Develops and implements annual budget and staffing plans to meet contract requirements and service needs
  • Maintains accurate client records and employment documentation
  • Coordinates interpreting services account and reviews interpreting invoices for accuracy and contract submission
  • Compiles, reviews and evaluates departmental reports and statistics
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to generate opportunities for employers and job seekers
  • Advocates for clients throughout the employment process, as needed
  • Maintains client case load, as needed

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • General office work, answering telephones, assisting others
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field, required. Specialization or minor in Deaf related topics, preferred

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Three to five years of experience in job development/placement; preferably with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community
  • Three to five years of experience in management, preferably in a social services agency
  • Thorough familiarity and fluency with Deaf Culture and American Sign Language
  • Knowledge of ADA and other anti-discrimination and employment related laws

  • Ability to prioritize projects effectively
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism and strong organizational skills
  • Possesses appropriate use of written English including spelling, vocabulary and grammar
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of communication styles within DHH communities
  • Possesses excellent case management, problem solving and counseling skills
  • Provides development strategies to maximize client capabilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Other Qualifications:

  • Possess reliable transportation and be able to attend off-site activities regularly
  • Must be able to pass required background clearance (DOJ clearance)
