In-House Resources

DCS has many information resources available at our headquarters office in Hillcrest. This includes information about community events, news items of interest about issue relating to persons who are hard of hearing or Deaf, and newspapers and magazines that focus on Deafness and hearing loss.

DCS also has a small lending library of books and videotapes pertaining to deafness, hearing loss, sign language, and related topics. There is no charge to borrow or use these materials. However, you will be asked to leave a deposit by credit card (or, by special arrangement, by check or cash) in order to help insure the return of our materials, which are often difficult and expensive to replace. When you return the items you have borrowed, your cash or check will be returned to you, or your signed credit card slip will be torn up and returned to you (we don't process the credit card slip unless you don't return the materials you borrowed).

DCS also maintains lists of resources such as local schools, churches, clubs, and other organizations that make special accommodations for persons who are hard of hearing or Deaf. This information can be provided to you at our Hillcrest office, or by TTY (619-38-2440) or telephone (619-398-2441) or by email. DCS is the leader in services and support for persons who are Deaf or hard of hearing – try us first.
