We offer advocacy services at our Hillcrest headquarters and by appointment in El Centro. Our counselors are expert in communicating with Deaf and hard of hearing people, and can arrange for sign language interpreters, CART services, or other communication support if that is needed. Our job is to help you resolve these problems and get on with your life.

  • Need to learn how to live independently, manage money, travel around town
  • Help with finding housing, managing rent, landlord problems
  • Conflicts at work, with government agencies or services
  • Help with immigration and citizenship issues (USCIS: US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Used to be called INS: Immigration and Naturalization Services)
  • Concerns about disability discrimination on the job, in housing, other situations – for example, trouble getting ASL interpreting or real-time captioning (CART)
  • Help with welfare, social security, court case (domestic violence, child custody, welfare, divorce)
  • Medical issues (doctor appointments, clinic or hospital appointments)
  • Need help understanding and filling out official letters, forms, bills
  • Need to use DCS’s free internet, TTY, and VRS services in the Hillcrest lobby
  • Assistance with Senior Citizen problems
